White Day ( ホワイトデー)

I know today is Valentine’s Day, but I already wrote about that last year. There are a few important words pertaining to Valentine in Japan, such as honmei choco 本命チョコ and giri choco 義理チョコ, but that’s not what my chosen word for today is. However, if you don’t know what those two words mean, be sure to check it out!

I’m definitely getting ahead of myself with today’s word, but it’s still Valentine related: White Day (ホワイトデー)! It’s celebrated in Japan, but also in China, Taiwan and South Korea (also I definitely wouldn’t mind having it over here 😉 ) White Day is celebrated exactly one month after Valentine’s Day on March 14th. It’s a day when all the men who received chocolate today will have to give a present in return. So even more chocolate for us ladies! Or if you’re really lucky, a piece of jewellery or something else of sentimental value 😀 But don’t be surprised to only get a small present if all you gave was giri choco ^^

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
