Sticks ‘n’ Sushi

The other day while looking for the Film Museum in Covent Garden, my friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant called Sticks ‘n’ Sushi.  What attracted us to it wasn’t only the fact that it was sushi and Japanese food, but it was sushi “with a Nordic taste”. Sushi with a Nordic taste? Never heard of that. So of course I had to give it a try!

IMG_5810The restaurant itself is quite glamorous and trendy looking. There’s even a bar where a waiter makes cocktails for you (for those of you that enjoy a bit of a drink 😉 ). As you enter the restaurant you’re greeted by almost each member of staff with a really interesting attempt of いらっしゃいませ (irrashaimase) – none of the staff are Japanese. Which is not a problem of course, but I’ll have to admit their pronunciation was a little bit funny ^ ^ (Not that my Japanese pronunciation is amazing either). All of the staff members were absolutely lovely, helpful and really cheerful though, and created a really a great atmosphere.

IMG_1649The menu had so much to offer! And to be honest we probably would have spent a lot longer trying to choose if we hadn’t restricted ourselves by price. Yes, the food was amazing, but so were the prices! Still worth it though 😀

IMG_5805Indeed the sushi wasn’t your typical sushi. With different ingredients and different flavours, the Nordic taste was quite apparent, and very delicious.

Our absolute favourite though,  wasn’t the sushi, but a meatball chicken yakitori skewer! I cannot begin to describe how good it tasted. Let’s just say I would’ve gladly ordered 10 more plates 😉

IMG_5806And for desert we went for a combination of treats.  My favourite was the matcha ice-cream which had a little crunchy surprise on the bottom, yum!

IMG_5807All in all I really liked this restaurant, and would love to go back. I wouldn’t make it a regular trip though, as unfortunately it’s quite pricey ~~; But I do recommend you go at least once ^^ There’s a branch in Covent Garden and one in Wimbledon. If you do go, or have been, let me know what you thought!

  1. I love Sticks n Sushi! I find it really refreshing from the regular sushi restaurants in London, and it’s a great spot to go with friends who are not too into sushi themselves. Another twist on the regular is Flesh & Buns if you haven’t been there yet – don’t miss the green tea s’mores for dessert 🙂
