History is another part about Japan that I find quite interesting, especially the medieval period. I probably find it the most interesting because it is the period where many 大名 (だいみょう) feudal lords, 将軍 (しょうぐん) military warlords and samurai warriors arose. It was a time when Japan was separated into several small states, so warlords fought to gain control over the whole country in order to unify it. It was also a time for ninjas, used as spies in covert missions, they were excellent at infiltrating enemy territory, sabotage, and assassinations.
Nowadays you can visit the two most famous ninja clans’ villages and experience that period of time. The first clan, Koga has 甲賀の里忍術村 (Koga no ninjutsu village), located in Shiga prefecture. The second clan, Iga, has 伊賀の里 (Iga no sato), located in Mie. Both locations have a ninja museum, and give you the opportunity to dress up as ninja, and try ninja activities such as 手裏剣 (しゅりけん) star-throwing.
What a fun way to experience Japanese history でしょう！
