八 – 富士山

I went to China a couple years ago and climbed “Tiger Leaping Gorge” (Yunnan province). I’ll admit I only climbed halfway, but even that was quite a feat for me.

So this time I would like to challenge myself to climb Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. Each year thousands of people, both Japanese and non Japanese take the plunge and hike the all mighty mountain. It is said the best time to climb Mount Fuji is during the months of July and August, when there is no snow, and the weather is relatively mild, making it easier for climbers.  And you’ll especially find many going during the obon festival (annual festival when ancestor’s spirits return to our world).

The views are said to be truly magnificent, and the whole climb is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
