I quickly mentioned たこ焼き(たこやき) takoyaki yesterday, which brings me on to my next favorite thing about Japan: food! I know it may sound cliché, but the food is actually amazing (*¬*)
One of my favorite foods is takoyaki, a ball-shaped Japanese snack made with batter and filled with diced octopus, then drizzled with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise and bonito flakes.
Another personal favorite of mine, お好み焼き(おこのみやき) okonomiyaki. okonomiyaki is a type of Japanese pancake filled with any of your favorite ingredients. The word is split into the kanji for お好み (okonomi), meaning “choice” or “preference”, and 焼き (yaki), meaning “grill”. There’s a great place in London called Abeno Too which serves okonomiyaki. It’s a little bit pricey, but the food is delicious and it has that authentic Japanese restaurant feel.
So although I have tried some Japanese food, I hope to try many other new dishes 🙂
